As part of the Alquimia Collection, Magma pays homage to the practice of alchemy, celebrating fire as a transformative element. The collection fuses diverse materials, traditional techniques, and the expertise of different craft workshops.
EWE Studio designed the Magma lighting fixtures and produced them in collaboration with Nouvel Studio. The process begins with molds hand-carved in volcanic stone by local stonemasons, chosen for its ability to withstand the intense heat of glassblowing. Each bubble is hand-blown within these molds, resulting in variations in shape, thickness, and character. The steel structure supporting each bubble is custom-made to fit its unique form. Inside, a hand-hammered metal surface creates reflections, enhancing the organic glow of the pieces.
