Sculpting Light: EWE’s Open Showroom During Art Week

Through a luminous exhibition, the show offered an intimate opportunity to explore a curated selection of our most iconic and representative works, showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship that define our practice.

The selection included a series of EWE’s lighting sculptures: Magma Large and Extra Large Clear, Magma Small and Individual Black, Cumulo Horizontal and Vertical, and two Travertine Estelas. EWE’s lighting sculptures were the highlight of the show. With their organic forms and tactile materiality, they emitted a soft glow, creating an atmospheric aura that transformed the space.

UNEARTHING: The Alchemy of Mexican Metalwork

‘UNEARTHING: The Alchemy of Mexican Metalwork’ exhibited the work of Mexico City designers Manu Bañó, EWE Studio, and Hector Esrawe, and surveyed the layers and evolution of Mexican craft through metalwork. It considered the act of digging into the country’s cultural and material roots, revealing the hidden or forgotten techniques, traditions, and stories embedded in metals and the landscape itself.

The show paid homage to Mesoamerican metallurgical techniques and objects through the Táas collection, consisting of a desk and a cabinet handcrafted from patinated brass.

EWE Studio exhibited at Design Miami 2024 at Ateliers Courbet’s booth with ‘SCULPT’, a group installation presenting new works by several designers and master artisans. The works on view included three ‘Memoria’ stools, from our S.R.O. collection, and the ‘Partera Chair’, from our Sincretismo collection.

By Design: Stories and Ideas Behind Objects

EWE’s Small Black Magma was on view in the exhibition By Design: Stories and Ideas Behind Objects at the Denver Art Museum

By Design illustrated the abundance and versatility of approaches to design. This particular installation showcased acquisitions of contemporary design from Mexico and the multifaceted approaches that contributed to the country’s unique visual expression.

MASA: CINCO AÑOS DESPUÉS

MASA presented an exhibition of works by twenty-six artists and designers, all of whom have in profound, reverberating ways been critical to the existence of MASA since the inaugural exhibition in Mexico City in February 2019, when MASA first opened as a nomadic exhibition platform. In this gathering of works is the renewal of investigations of material and use, and new groupings and dynamics among artists.

EWE’s Open Showroom

During the 2024 Mexico City Art Week, EWE opened its doors and welcomed visitors to our showroom. This Open Showroom was an archive of the studio and displayed the processes behind our works. A selection of pieces was exhibited in a new range of materials, showcasing EWE’s commitment high-quality craftsmanship. We exhibited two new works at this showroom, pictured above: Rito #6 and Estela Lighting Fixture in Travertine Marble, also our Cumulo Lighting Sculpture.

UNIQUE DESIGN X MEXICO CITY

EWE Studio exhibited a selection of pieces in COLLECTIONAL’S first show in Mexico City, debuting at Unique Design Group x Mexico City fair. The works on view at this exhibition were the Estela Lighting Fixture in Travertine Marble; Altar Table #3 in Travertine Marble; Partera Chair in Green Tikal Marble; and Copal Side Table in Wood.
