Masa Crítica, EWE Studio’s first solo exhibition, held at the historic Museo Numismático Nacional in Mexico City, explored the studio’s processes, material studies, and work to early 2019.
EWE is deeply committed to artisanal processes—such as molding, casting, glassblowing, hand-carving, burning, transforming, distorting, and finishing—firmly rooted in its core value of being involved in the entire process while collaborating closely with craftsmen in the creation of each piece.
When the Abierto Mexicano de Diseño, a four-day design event, offered the studio the opportunity to hold a solo exhibition in the former mint, dating back to the mid-17th century and now home to the Museo de la Moneda, it felt like an unimaginable coincidence.
