NEBULA LIGHTING SCULPTURE – 1 BUBBLE – AMBER GLASS

EWE Studio present a new series of lighting installations inspired and named after the Nebulas, interstellar clouds of gas and dust which are the origin of stars. Each of these floating modules is made using a recent technique explored by the studio called caged glass, also known as encased or imprisoned glass, in which molten glass is blown within a metal shape, and the bubble find its way around the openings of the rigid silhouettes that conditions the expression and direction of it.

The striking combination of these materials, in conjunction with a sophisticated lighting system, seeks to capture in a new medium the ethereal beauty of the swirling gases of the nebulae and the vast emptiness of outer space.

By merging the rich heritage and skillful workshops in Mexico and translating it into a contemporary expression we aimed to develop an immersive art piece. The beauty of Nebula remarks EWE’s constant interest to promote collaboration, in this case with one of the best glass blowers in America, Nouvel Studio.
