Special Commissions by EWE Studio

At EWE Studio, beyond our collections, we love collaborating closely with clients to develop custom projects.
Guided by the same artisanal processes that define our work, we adapt traditional craftsmanship to contemporary design. Whether lighting, seating, tables, spaces, we ensure each project embodies our commitment to narrative, materiality, technique, and to our aesthetics.??

In the south of Mexico City lies El Pedregal, a landscape shaped by the eruption of the Xitle volcano over 1,700 years ago. Its striking lava gardens later became a source of inspiration for architect Luis Barragán, who developed the area in the late 1940s by merging its volcanic terrain with modernist architecture.

Drawing from this inspiration, EWE Studio presents its first large-scale installation: six raw black marble monoliths arranged in a circle in the lobby of the Pedre residential building. A polished four-meter diameter ring connects the stones, creating a unified composition visible from every level of the tower.

The Magma Lighting Fixture showcases EWE Studio’s expertise in blending materials and techniques. Inspired by the shifting forms of lava and the rugged, ever-changing Mexican landscape, it reflects the country’s unique geological complexity. Originally conceived as custom pieces, the Magma Extra Extra Large fixtures have since evolved into part of the studio’s permanent collection.

As part of the Alquimia Collection, Magma pays homage to the practice of alchemy, celebrating fire as a transformative element. The collection fuses diverse materials, traditional techniques, and the expertise of different craft workshops. The lighting fixtures are created in collaboration with Nouvel Studio.

The Altar project is born from a fascination with shrines, altars, and pedestals—sacred spaces where rituals are performed and ceremonial objects are placed. Like an altar, this collection of tables serves as a place for awe, praise, and the treasuring of daily objects within the home.

Custom made sink inspired on our Altar Table no. 6 for a private residential project La Loma by Esrawe Studio located at Lomas de Chapultepec.

These custom projects have allowed us to explore new ideas in collaboration with clients and partners.

With love,

EWE
