WOOD

Wood carving was one of the first techniques mastered by humankind, enabling the creation of tools that have endured to this day. It requires great dexterity and sensitivity to transform a block or log into a design object, and the rawness of the material gives each piece such an organic and natural character that it enriches our work.

At EWE Studio, we are interested in experimenting with this process because of the expressiveness that tools such as gouges, chisels, axes, and chainsaws leave imprinted on the material.

Throughout the making of each piece, we also explore the different finishes that wood allows, such as burning, enhancing both the color and the narrative embedded in the material.

Through these material explorations, we rediscover one of the oldest processes in history, reinterpreting it to create objects that speak to the present.
