Stone carving has existed since humankind learned how to make and use tools. The basic instruments involved in carving— mallets, chisels, drills and metal straight edges—remain the foundation of the process in our pieces.
The raw character provided by our materials, whether onyx, marble, or volcanic stone, is central to EWE Studio’s approach. It allows us to ensure that each piece is entirely unique: we cannot predict the natural features of the stone, and we embrace these “mistakes,” enriching every object.
Stone, together with the processes and techniques that accompany the material, becomes the bridge toward what we aim to achieve: a balance between ancestral techniques and contemporary pieces.
