CUSTOM PIECES

At EWE Studio, we not only create our signature pieces but also collaborate on custom projects. Guided by the same artisanal processes that define our work, we adapt traditional craftsmanship to contemporary design. Whether developing unique furniture, lighting, or sculptural pieces, we ensure each project embodies our dedication to materiality, technique, and timeless aesthetics.

The Altar project is born from a fascination with shrines, altars, and pedestals—sacred spaces where rituals are performed and ceremonial objects are placed. Like an altar, this collection of tables serves as a place for awe, praise, and the treasuring of daily objects within the home.

We work with natural materials with its own unique characters, making this work one of a kind piece.

Tacchini is a renowned Italian furniture company founded in 1967. With over 60 years of experience in the industry, Tacchini has become synonymous with timeless design and exceptional quality. They have collaborated with some of the world’s most talented designers to create elegant and functional furniture pieces.

EWE Studio’s approach to design centers around the preservation of traditional techniques while pushing the boundaries of materials and innovation. The collaboration, EWE x TACCHINI takes this to new heights, merging the artistry and materiality of stone carving with the versatility of ceramics, wood, and concrete.

Inspired by the EWE’s ‘Altar’ collection, this collaboration highlights the distinctive stone carving language of the studio and translates the materiality of stone into a unique ceramic collection that celebrates the diversity of colors used in traditional ceramics in Mexico. EWE x TACCHINI collaboration also includes a concrete and wooden variation of the ‘Altar’.

Just like an altar, EWE x TACCHINI new side table offers a place for awe, praise, and treasuring daily objects in the home. The process of sculpting the shape is based on obsessive and precise drilling of the stone volumes, which is crucial to achieving both the visual and functional stability of the piece.

The color palette of the studio’s first collaboration with the Italian design house is based on the emblematic colors of vernacular objects and inspired by glazing produced in different regions around the country. From the earthy, muted tones of traditional Oaxacan pottery to the vibrant, jewel-like hues of the blue talavera glazings from Puebla, and the bright yellow tones of Michoacan, each piece is a testament to the beauty and diversity of traditional Mexican ceramics.

At EWE Studio, the design process is just as important as the final product. The result of this collaboration is a stunning collection that seamlessly combines EWE’s interest in traditional heritage, and material experimentation, with Tacchini’s exceptional quality, timelessness, and commitment to sustainability.
